Applicants may apply for up to 3 programs. A complete set of application documents should be prepared for each program applied.

Applicants should upload application materials to online application system.

However, NCTU may ask applicants to post us the original official documents when necessary.

1 Admission Application Form
 

Fill out the online application form, print and sign it.

 

2 Personal Statement/Motivation Letter
 

May be written in English or Chinese.

 

3 Official Graduation Certificate of Highest Degree Obtained*
 

The official degree certificate must bear the seal of the issuing institution. 

  • Application to Bachelor’s degree program: Senior high school diploma (or above)
  • Application to Master’s degree program: Bachelor’s degree certificate (or above)
  • Application to Doctoral degree program: Master’s degree certificate (or above)

Students currently enrolled in a program should submit an official document issued by the university indicating expected date of graduation.

 

3a. Translation of official official diploma (if applicable)*
 

The official diploma must be translated into either English or Chinese when the original one is not issued in either language

 

4. One copy of official transcript (with grades of every semester and explanation of grading system)*
 

The official transcript must bear the seal of the issuing institution and contains grades of every course taken in each semesters studied.

 If you have attended more than one institution, separate official transcripts should be provided.

  • Application to Bachelor’s degree program: Senior high school (or above) transcript
  • Application to Master’s degree program: Bachelor’s degree (or above) transcript
  • Application to Doctoral degree program: Master’s degree (or above) transcript

 

 
4a. Translation of official transcript (if applicable)*
 

The official transcript must be translated into either English or Chinese when the original one is not issued in either language.

 

 Once the applicant is offered admission from NCTU,

both the graduation certificate and transcript (and their translations, if any) should  be notarized by the R.O.C. (Taiwan) Embassy or R.O.C. (Taiwan) Representative Office in or near the country where the documents are issued. Notarized documents should be submitted to NCTU at the time of registration.

5. Two letters of recommendation
 

The letters of recommendation must be provided by the applicant’s teachers/advisors/employers in either English or Chinese. Recommenders will receive invitation letter from NCTU and they should choose either to complete online recommendation via the online application system or submit hardcopy reference letter (submitted in sealed and signed envelopes).

Hardcopy recommendation letter template may be the one provided by the university (NCTU Template) or the one provided by the referee.

Confidential Financial Statement

(No need to submit the financial statement at the time of application; however, the admitted students should submit the financial statement at the time of registration at NCTU)

 

The applicant must show documented evidence that sufficient funds to cover all tuition, fees, transportation, and living expenses are available for the first year of their studies at NCTU, by one of the following means:

  • (1) A photocopy of scholarship award notification (scholarship award notification means full scholarship award notification from Taiwan government or applicant's home country government. NCTU scholarship notification is not included.), or
  • (2) An official bank statement is required and should be issued in English / Chinese (dated within the last 3 months) in the amount of USD 6,000 (NTD200,000) or more.  In the case the bank statement is not issued in the name of applicant, a signed declaration must be provided from the sponsor. In the declaration it should clearly state the sponsor's relationship with the applicant and commitment to cover the applicant's all expenses in Taiwan.

Be aware that all fees and expenses vary per person and are subject to change.

 

9. Proof of English proficiency
 

 One photo copy of the test score is required. The minimum requirements (or equivalent) are

 TOEFL PBT 500 / CBT 173 / iBT 73, TOEIC 650 or IELTS 5.5 (academic) unless specified otherwise by some department/institutes.

**Not Required for applicants from or whose previous degree is from English-speaking countries:

United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia.

 

10. Proof of Chinese proficiency
 

This documents is recommended for undergraduate program applicants; for graduate program, it is subject to each institute’s admission regulation.

Please check whether the program you intend to apply for requires proof of Chinese proficiency and prepare accordingly.

TOCFL(Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) test result is preferred. http://www.sc-top.org.tw/english/LR2/test1.php

 
11. Proof of renouncement of nationality of the Republic of China (if applicable)
 

The document should be issued by the Ministry of Interior for more than 8 years to the registration date of intended term of entry

 

12. Other supporting documents or additional required documents specified by each program applied
 

Applicants to doctoral programs are suggested to submit a copy of master's degree thesis/dissertation and its abstract (both written in English/Chinese). Documents such as GMAT/GRE scores or proof of work experience may be required by specific department/institute. For specific requirements, please visit the website of individual  department/institute.

Note: For application to the College of Management, a valid GMAT result is required.
